The becoming climate-friendly journal

Growth mindset

The journal aims to help people adopt a growth mindset. With this mindset, they change their focus from reducing emissions to learning new ways of living sustainably. This mindset can help them navigate new challenges and enjoy learning.

Positivity

Climate change is often causing a lot of anxiety in our society, and the media is trying to motivate people by spreading fear. This journal aims to show people that by acting of hope and remaining positive, we can change our way of living and reduce our impact. The journal implements positivity through illustrations and quotes. However, the journal also provides space for expressing feelings of anxiety, as this should not be ignored.

Structure

The journal is structured in a repeating cycle of creating a goal, noting down learnings, and reflecting on learnings. Within this cycle, there are various unique assignments to keep you engaged and inspired to continue taking steps.

Inspiration

It can be challenging to remain inspired sometimes. The journal provides quotes, initiatives, illustrations, and facts to provide you with new information and support your journey.

Online community

The journal is connected to an online community to inspire and connect you to other journal users. Through assignments in the journal, you are asked to submit answers and drawings to the Instagram account @becomingclimatefriendly to inspire others with your work. Simultaneously, this Instagram account also shares best practices, tips and facts to help you in your journey.

Offline community

Talking about climate change can be difficult, but it is valuable and important while adopting a growth mindset. Expressing your challenges can help you receive support when needed. And the other way around, you can inspire others with your work! The journal contains specific assignments that focus on connecting with those around you.

Frequently Asked Questions

After reading about the journal, I can imagine you still have some questions. Hopefully, this section can help you out! And if not? Feel free to contact me; I am always happy to provide you with more details!

For who is this journal designed?

The journal is designed for people aged between 18 and 30, as they are aware of the problem, will experience the consequences of climate change, and are also in a position to make many life and career decisions that can contribute to a sustainable future. That said, this journal can be used by anyone open to exploring how they can take steps to change their lifestyle and become climate-friendly!

The journal is designed in English, but a Dutch translation is coming.

Do I need to have Instagram to use this journal?

The answer is no, but it will make it much more fun! Through Instagram, you can share your journey, connect with others, and share your knowledge! When adopting a growth mindset, the community element is important as it can help you work through challenges and find new inspiration.

It may be important to note that all input shared with Instagram is anonymous except to the moderator. Replying to posts will make you visible.

Can I maintain my growth after the journal is finished?

Right now, the journal focuses on getting you started in adopting the growth mindset while working on becoming climate-friendly. Once you work through the journal (good job!), you can maintain your growth as you are equipped with a new mindset and perspective on climate change. You are ready to fly solo! However, I imagine the journal was an excellent backbone for your journey. I am creating a follow-up journal with a more open format that you can use to continue growing. If you have any ideas/suggestions for this, don’t hesitate to contact me, I am happy to hear your ideas!

Where can I buy this journal?

Unfortunately, it is not yet for sale as the journal needs some improvements. However, you can leave your email in the contact form to receive an update once it is.
